What are the Honor Flights? http://www.honorflights.org/
Our mission is simple – to fly as many World War veterans to their memorial in Washington DC as we can – as fast as we can, at no cost to them!
Honor Flight Tri-State has just completed a very successful 2010 flying season . We have flown over 300 veterans to their memorial with trips all summer and the final one on October 12th. We will resume flying again in May of 2011. We are accepting applications all winter for the flights next year. Apply on line here on this website. Go to the Application section and fill out either a veteran or guardian application.
All World War ll veterans and Korean Veterans who were deployed before January 1950 are eligible for a free trip to Washington DC to see their memorials. After your application is received, we will put you on the waiting list. You will be called when your name comes to the top of the list. We have our May flight filled but the other flights scheduled for June, September and October still have availabilities.
Statistics show that World War ll Veterans are dying at an alarming rate.. For many of the surviving veterans, a trip to Washington to see their memorial is not financially or physically possible without the aid that Honor Flight Tri-State can provide. The trip is absolutely free to all qualified veterans. Family members can be guardians ( spouses do not qualify as guardians )but they must pay their own fees ( $350 for 2011 ).
Honor Flight wants to fulfill the dreams of as many veterans as we can by providing free flights to veterans and ease the load for their caregivers by providing willing and able volunteers to escort them on their day trip. A flight includes: A t-shirt, Honor Flight name badge souvenir, 3 meals, tour buses and airfare to Washington DC in one day ! Veterans just show up at the pre arranged site and we take care of everything from there.
